Just remember the three D’s —dip, draw, dust
WOMEN’S DAILY makeup regimen takes time—often, more time than they’d like to give.
While there are a lucky few who can work wonders on their face without breaking a sweat, there are more of us who have time only for the simple powder-blush-lip-and-eye color routine.
It’s thus a blessing that Rustan’s newest makeup line, Pür Minerals, has a four-piece Starter Kit that lets one put on foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, blush, lip and eye color—in just 10-15 minutes.
The “hero product” is the 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup, which does most of the job in the kit (foundation, concealer, finishing powder and sunscreen with SPF 15). Lynette Cole, Miss Tennessee USA 2000 and Pür Minerals VP of global relations and on-air spokesperson, says she “wouldn’t be caught dead” without her 4-in-1.
Apply the 4-in-1 first, using the Chisel Brush which comes with the set. There’s another process involved in this first step; just remember the three D’s—dip, draw, dust. Dip the brush into the powder, draw circles on the inner part of the lid, then draw onto your face.
The “drawing” part ensures that the powder is compacted into the brush’s bristles.
Adding definition
Follow with the Mineral Glow powder, which acts like a bronzer, adding definition and character to the face. Last to be applied is the Marble Powder, the all-around lip-cheek-eye color.
“This is for women who aren’t really skilled in applying makeup and want something easy,” Cole says.
“These three products—it’s the way to go at the start, then you can just add in,” she adds.
Pür also carries eye shadows, lipsticks and pencils, mascara, eyeliner, primers and other specialty powders. It also has blush rocks, which Cole likes to use with her usual blush.
“If you crush them, you get more pigment color,” she says.
The brand has skincare products, too, like moisturizer, face mask and makeup remover, although all Pür products are created to nourish and protect one’s skin. The mineral makeup has no fragrances and oils. What it does have is shea butter, which ensures continued conditioning of the skin. Pür products are also hypoallergenic.
“We worry about what we consume and put in our bodies. Now we should also worry about what we apply on top,” says Cole. “We have to wear makeup that’s good for the skin.”
Watch out for ‘mascara kiss’ and other tips from Cole
Watch out for your mascara’s “kiss,” that small popping sound you hear when you pull out the brush from the bottle. When the “kiss” is gone, it means the mascara’s dried out, and it’s time to get a new one.
Primers help a lot in smoothing out makeup, so that a little product can go a long way. With Pür primers, put some on your hand and dab with a brush before spreading onto the face. Make sure it’s the only brush you use for it.
Instead of touching up your makeup, use a Pür Hydrator. Just spritz it on your face to refresh everything.
