MANILA, Philippines – President Aquino has appointed a new set of officers at the National Youth Commission (NYC) and named new people to serve at the National Transmission Corp., the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, the Edsa People Power Commission and other offices.
Actor-singer Ogie Alcasid, a supporter of Mr. Aquino, was the most recognizable appointee, getting a seat in the Edsa People Power Commission.
Mr. Aquino has also tapped Leon Flores III as chairman of the NYC, and named Erwin Chua Andaya, Georgina Nava, Earl Saavedra and Percival Cendaña as commissioners of the NYC, a body under the Office of the President in charge of youth development, Secretary Edwin Lacierda, presidential spokesperson, said on Sunday.
Flores replaced Christopher Lawrence Arnuco, who started out as a commissioner and was later appointed chairman of the NYC.
The President also appointed Rolando Bacani as president and chief executive officer of the National Transmission Corp. (Transco), and Aminah Rasul Bernardo and Rejoice Subijano as members of the board of the Mindanao Development Authority.
He has also named Francis Garcia, Bienvenido Benitez and Roberto Garcia as members of the board of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Lacierda said.
Lacierda also announced the appointments of Benjamin Santiago as acting director I of the Land Transportation Office and Villamor Villar as acting director III at the Department of National Defense.
