NEW YORK, March 8 - Teen clothing retailer Aeropostale Inc signed a deal to open about 25 stores in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia over the next five years.
The first store is scheduled to open in Singapore later this year, the company said on Tuesday.
Aeropostale, which competes in the United States with American Eagle Outfitters Inc and other mall-based chains, said it signed a licensing agreement with Montreal PTE Ltd, a joint venture between Apparel Group LLC and Jay Gee Melwani Group.
There are currently 906 Aeropostale stores in the United States and Puerto Rico and 59 in Canada, the company said.
Aeropostale shares edged up 4 cents in after-hours trading to $24.68 from their close on the New York Stock Exchange at $24.64.
