MANILA, Philippines—Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration would provide “a grant assistance of P10,000” for each returning Filipino worker from Libya besides an “assistance package” from the National Reintegration Center for OFWs.
She added that the government was also coordinating with state financial institutions like Land Bank of the Philippines so that returning OFWs from Libya could obtain business loans.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said it had begun talks with banks on how OFWs repatriated from Libya may exchange their Libyan dinars into pesos or other more useful currencies.
In Legazpi City, the provincial government of Albay has set up a 24-hour Libyan OFW assistance desk that will closely coordinate with concerned agencies in the country and in Libya to help Albayanos trapped in the North African country.
