Source: PDIGMA 7’S new fantasy-drama series “Machete” hopes to attract more viewers to boost its performance, ratings-wise. The recent inclusion of Kris Bernal in the cast is widely construed as a means to this end.
Kris herself doesn’t think she was added to the show to "save" it, as it were. “I’m not that big an actress to make anything like that happen. The show’s doing well. I guess it’s just because my on-screen partnership with (‘Machete’ lead star) Aljur has been proven effective,” she pointed out.
Kris likewise brushed aside the rumor that “Machete” lead actresses Ryza Cenon and Bela Padilla are not happy about her joining the show. “They’re professional actors. I’m sure they’re not bitter,” said Kris.
She added that she has worked with them in the past—Ryza in “Koreana” and Bela in “Party Pilipinas.”
Kris’ character, Jessa, is a rich heiress being forced to marry someone she doesn’t love (Paolo Contis). On the day of her wedding, she runs away and meets Machete.
Kris began taping for the show on February 21. Her last project with Aljur was another fantasy-drama, “The Last Prince.”
