NBA: Hornets' Paul hurt in win over Cavs

Source: AFP

New Orleans star Chris Paul suffered a concussion and was stretchered off the court Sunday in the Hornets' 96-81 NBA victory over Cleveland.

Paul was hospitalized for tests, but was released in time to rejoin the team for their charter flight to Chicago.

The team said he would miss Monday's game against the Bulls.

Paul was hurt in the third quarter when he lost the ball while driving into the lane.

As Paul attempted to regain the ball, he hit his forehead on the shoulder of the Cavaliers' Ramon Sessions and fell to the floor.

He stayed on the floor as medical personnel from both teams attended to him.

Paul was placed on a back board and taken to the locker room, flashing a "thumbs up" to cheering fans"

The team said Paul never lost consciousness, and Hornets coach Monty Williams said Paul was "in good spirits" as he waited at the hospital for test results.

"He was ready to get out of the hospital, as most of us hate being in hospitals," Williams said. "We'll see what the doctors say."

Williams said Paul knew the Hornets had won.
