NBA: Wade shines as Heat scorch Grizzlies

MIAMI – The Miami Heat displayed the dominance expected of their star-studded line-up on Saturday with a 118-85 NBA trouncing of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Dwyane Wade scored 28 points and handed out nine assists and LeBron James chipped in 27 points before taking the moot fourth quarter off as Miami delivered their biggest winning margin of the season.

The overwhelming triumph comes on the heels of a victory over the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers – a win that apparently got the Heat back on track with a vengeance after a brutal five-game skid.

The Heat drew national attention when free agents Wade, James and Chris Bosh opted to team up in Miami this season, but were questioned and criticized as coach Erik Spoelstra reported players in tears in the locker room after a one-point loss to Chicago last weekend.

The Heat were certainly laughing on Saturday.

Wade also blocked five shots, four of them in less than a minute in the first quarter.

Bosh scored 18 points and hauled in 10 rebounds for Miami, which closed within 2 1/2 games of Boston for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Recent arrival Mike Bibby chipped in 17 points for the Heat, making all five of his attempts from three-point range.

O.J. Mayo scored 19 points for the Grizzlies, who lost their second straight.

Memphis' lead over Phoenix for the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference playoffs has dwindled to one game.
