The worst song ever?

If you've been on the Internet the past week, you have probably heard of Rebecca Black.

For the benefit of those who haven't, the 13-year-old Californian recently released a song, Friday, that has become a viral hit over the web after appearing on a Tosh.0 blog post titled "Songwriting Isn't for Everyone".

However, Black, who has been trending on Twitter for the past week, has received ridicule for her song.

But as views of the much-mocked video jumped from 3,000 to 18 million in just a week, something about this oh-so-wrong song must be oh-so-right.

Lambasted by critics as having overly simplified lyrics like "tomorrow is Saturday/ And Sunday comes afterwards/ I don't want this weekend to end", the song describes Black's typical Friday, when she goes to school and meets her friends at night.

Reviewers on BNET and CNN also noted that the rap break from the considerably older rapper was "creepy".

And to think that all Black wanted to do with the song was to let her friends listen to her sing and, perhaps, gain a few fans.

Even Black's idol, Justin Bieber, didn't appear impressed, given his post on Twitter, "sunday comes after saturday? weird".

Ironically dubbed "the new Justin Bieber", Black actually has a fan in former American Idol judge Simon Cowell.

The X Factor creator told PEOPLE, "I want to meet her. Anyone who can create this much controversy within a week, I want to meet. I love people like that."
