MANILA---Thai import Kesinee Lithawat and Alysa Valdez hope to provide the firepower again for Ateneo when the Lady Eagles dispute the solo lead with the Lyceum Lady Pirates in the Shakey’s V-League today.
And former Ateneo star Charo Soriano, who triumphed in her coaching debut, sees her wards doing better than their 25-17, 25-22, 25-20 dumping of Far Eastern University last Tuesday.
“I expect the girls to be more unified and more fluid in their game,” said Soriano.
Gametime is at 4 p.m. at the FilOil-Flying V Arena in San Juan with Lyceum seeking a follow up to its 21-25, 27-25, 25-16, 25-15 win over Southwestern University last Tuesday.
University of St. La Salle-Bacolod and National University gun for their second win in three games when they tangle earlier at 2 p.m.
Games can be viewed on live streaming at www.v-league.ph.
Lyceum coach Emil Lontoc said he expects a tougher match even if his Lady Pirates boast a solid lineup bannered by former two-time MVP Mary Jean Balse, Joy Cases, Dahlia Cruz, Jamie Peña, Marie Casanova and Ann Tabafunda.
“I think we have a 50-50 chance against Ateneo,” said Lontoc. “I think Ging (Balse) and Dahlia (Cruz) have more to show in their game.”
The Lady Bulldogs rebounded from their opening-day loss with a 20-25, 25-10, 25-21, 25-23 decision over St. Benilde behind Cai Nepomuceno and Dindin Santiago.
The Lady Stingers, who dropped a 25-23, 25-15, 25-22 decision to Adamson, try to recover from their first loss with Patty Orendain, Kay Aplasca, Charmaine Moralde, Floradele Dolar and American reinforcement Jayde Hair.
