Kyla asks Rich to be more careful

The shooting incident that maimed Ali Peek, a teammate of her groom-to-be, Rich Alvarez, worries Kyla. That’s why she is asking him to be extra careful these days.

"Siguro sasabihan ko siya na mag-ingat na lang. Kung pwede hwag na lang muna siya pumunta sa mga events kung meron sa gabi or sumama sa mga bars. Kailangan talagang mag-ingat," she revealed.

Kyla recalled Rich was talking to Ali Peek on the phone 15 minutes before the latter was shot at the neck at the parking lot of RFM Gym.

According to her, Rich called to tell Ali he made a teaser of the video he did from their team building activities. Ali was the star and Rich wanted him to see the video himself.

The video, adds Kyla is a "cool one."

Strong-willed Ali

What isn't cool for her is Ali's plight. She and Rich are glad Ali is strong-willed enough to survive the nightmare.

Kyla doesn’t have to say it, but Rich’s safety and welfare during and after his basketball games seem be adding to the tension and stress she is experiencing as their wedding date on Nov. 28 nears.

Also on Kyla’s mind is her "farewell concert as a single woman" on Nov. 11 at the Teatrino, Greenhills, San Juan.

"Parang bumabaliktad yung stomach ko kasi malapit na yung wedding," said Kyla. "Marami pang small details na dapat gawin."

So why still stage a concert?

"I think I owe this to my fans. It's my last concert bago ako ikasal. Sabi ko nga sa mga fans ko, malapit na akong magkarun ng last name. It's a show also to show them that I won't be leaving showbiz after I get married," she replied.

Kyla promised to go back to work after her wedding. She and Rich are postponing the honeymoon to June of 2012 because of the latter’s s ongoing basketball conferences. And Kyla expects to be because as the holiday season nears.

How about a baby?

"Kung ibibigay ni Lord hindi naman ako magrereklamo. Pero gusto sana namin after the honeymoon na kasi mahirap magbiyahe na nagdadalantao," Kyla said. They plan to go to Europe for their honeymoon next year. With regards to how many children they would like to have, she said two.

As a wife to be, Kyla is not planning too far ahead. She admits having no idea on what changes she would like to happen after marriage. Neither can she talk about who's going to handle the purse strings because she simply doesn't know how to go about it yet. One of the things she is holding on to, though, is Rich’s promise to take care of her.

Kyla said that Rich assured her na "siya ang bahala sa akin."

"Hindi ko talaga iniisip. Kapag dumating na sa panahon na yun, saka na lang ako mag-adjust," she quipped. "Maraming fears pero inaalis ko sa isipan ko mga yun kasi gusto ko puro excitement lang."

Wedding vow?

As of posting time, she still hasn't written her wedding vow yet.

"Darating din yan pag malapit na kasi mararamdaman mo yun," she said.

Kyla’s long-time friend Cocoy Lizazo is making her wedding gown while Rich's suit will be done by Randy Ortiz. Bagong Himig, her parents’ college singing group, will sing at the wedding reception, The guest list may consist of 500 or more names.

"We have many friends. The more the merrier," Kyla smiled.

As to her thoughts on professional basketball players attracting lots of women, she said, "Tinakot mo naman ako!"
