Young star Barbie Forteza is looking beyond her teenybopper roles and is trying something else: horror. She’s not only learning something new. She’s also facing her fears.
“Nakakatakot po kasi sobrang liblib (referring to the location of their shoots for GMA Films’ “The Road”).
One of the important instructions she got from her director, Yam Laranas, was to deliver her lines loud and clear. According to Barbie, Yam wanted to use live audio recording to refrain from dubbing.
“Sa first shooting day namin, tingin ko sa kanya very strict. He controls everything. Sobrang husay niya. Sa third day namin nakikipagkulitan na rin si Direk,” Barbie describes her working relationship with her director.
Barbie admits that she gets scared easily, especially when it comes to ghosts or the unknown.
Imagining things
Unlike other people who can feel some “unknown presence” on the set, Barbie does not. Nor has she ever felt any paranormal presence so far. Her fear, she says, comes from her imagination.
“Matatakutin ako. Marami akong nai-imagine. Late na tuloy nakakatulog,” she laments.
She admits feeling someone is near her at first. But when she turns around, there’s nobody there. Barbie calls those incidents “funny moments.”
Aside from mall tours promoting “The Road” which opens in theaters nationwide on November 30, Barbie is busy with “Tween Hearts,” GMA 7’s youth-oriented drama which was extended until February 2012 and the afternoon series “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin.”
“Given the chance, gusto kong ma-try lahat ng klase ng acting range. Gusto ko ring mag-kontrabida, mag-comedy and mag-action.
