The Magic of Chongqing Hotpot
We can see why The Magic of Chongqing Hotpot is very popular among steamboat fans. You will be spoilt for choice with its wide selection of fresh ingredients like sliced beef, fish paste, and golden mushrooms.
The essence of a good steamboat comes from its soup base, and this restaurant uses very rich chicken stock as its broth. There is also a chilli-based soup available, along with four dipping sauces so there's never a boring moment here.

The Mushroom Pot
This family-friendly restaurant sells exactly what its name emphasizes: Mushrooms. Despite the many changes in the area, The Mushroom remains a stalwart of Stadium neighbourhood. We tried the signature hot pot buffet, which came with six soup options. Our wild mushroom soup was a good choice – the broth was appetizing and pleasantly aromatic. The buffet kicks off to with a flavorful house special of black pepper sliced pork with C.V. mushrooms. The mushrooms were naturally the highlight of the hotpot – some unusual, some familiar… all yummy. The seafood, chicken, pork and beef selections were reasonably varied, but sadly not all were tasty; the standard fare like meatballs, fillet, fish slices and squid tasted like what you would find at any coffee shop. However, the shitake mushroom with meat paste was quite good – the marinated beef being exceptionally tender and delicious. We also tried the wild mushroom fried rice and Shanghai stir-fried noodles, both of which were, sadly, nothing to shout about. Our verdict: It's a great choice if you love mushrooms, but if you don't, your dollar could probably be better spent elsewhere.

Imperial Treasure Steamboat Restaurant
This new offering from the Imperial Treasure Restaurant Group is partially responsible for breathing some life into the quiet TripleOne Somerset complex. (In the last few months, the restaurant group has been particularly aggressive: they've opened up a bakery [#01-26] and a casual eatery, Windows of Hong Kong [#01-K1], all steps away from one another.) Steaming pots of soup made for an intoxicating mixture of aromas and inviting start of their steamboat experience. A mention to the server of the restaurant's homemade Canton fish balls is mandatory. They are so springy they threatened to bounce off plates. While the servings of USA-sliced marble beef could have been more generous, the quality of the meat itself was good, with the right balance of fat and flesh. Judging by the crowd, we anticipate this boisterous establishment will continue to be especially popular with families. They're not wrong to keep coming back.
