Former Pacman sparmate posts 9th straight win

One-time Manny Pacquiao sparring partner Glen Tapia preserved his winning streak Sunday with a lopsided six-round decision over Eberto Miranda at the Ballroom of the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Tapia, who fights as a super welterweight, improved his unbeaten record to 9-0 with six knockouts.

He dropped Medina in the third round but couldn’t take him out, though.

All three judges had Tapia a comfortable winner. Debra Barnes scored it 59-54, John McKale had it 60-52, and Donald Givens saw it 60-63, all for Tapia.

Tapia, the likeable youngster, impressed fans with his fighting style and his friendly disposition while training alongside Michael Medina and sparring with pound-for-pound king Pacquiao as the eight division champion prepared for his fight against Miguel Cotto on Nov. 13 last year in Las Vegas.

Handpicked by trainer Freddie Roach, Tapia often gave Pacquiao a good workout at his training camp in Baguio City.
