Leading up to the WBO Welterweight fight on May 7 (May 8, Philippine time) against five-time titleholder Sugar Shane Mosley, Manny Pacquiao appeared at their Los Angeles press conference to kick off their tour to promote their fight sporting a big smile and a new hairdo!
The 32-year-old indeed looked younger with his Justin Beiber-ish hair style and his sweater-shirt with jeans getup. And standing beside the 39-year-old Mosley who was garbed in a spiffy light-colored suit, it just brought more emphasis on the age gap.
Their next appearance will be on February 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas where the fight will be held, and then they’ll be spending their Valentine’s Day showing the New York fans some love with a promotional event there. The day after, Pacquiao is set to meet with US President Barack Obama and the first lady at the White House.
The fight will be produced and distributed by Showtime Networks Inc., and its parent company CBS for the first time. Showtime will also produce Fight Camp 360° as a preview of Pacquiao vs. Mosley as CBS will also be doing features this April leading up to the fight.
“I’m excited to be fighting on May 7 because it’s covered by Showtime and CBS. It’s going to give more boxing fans a chance to see the fight,” shared Pacquiao. Showtime is shown on 115 million homes as compared to HBO’s 28 million.
The congressman from Saranggani also he promised to give the fans the biggest fight of the year as he puts his 52-3-2, 38 knockouts record on the line.
Curious to see how his hair, will affect his fight though. Justin Beiber keeps flicking his head sideways to get his hair off his eyes. What if Pacquiao needs to do the same? What if he flicks his head to the right and catches Mosley’s punch? That would be tragic like “baby, baby, baby no!”

Beverly Hills, CA:- At high noon today, Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions in cooperation with CBS and ShowTime, held the first of the series of press conferences aimed at hyping the May 7th blockbuster fight between Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley.
The event was held at the swank Beverly Hills Hotel along Sunset Boulevard in the west side of the famous home of the stars, Beverly Hills.
It was a grand presscon, one that has not been seen these days lately. Top Rank and CBS-ShowTime left no stone unturned in putting up the event. Everyone in the “who-is-who" in the sports and boxing press corps was there. Why even Jinkee Pacquiao, who seldom appears in these kind of events was there too to lend her support for her husband.

What is so nice about the whole event was the fact that two classy gentlemen were involved. Thus, there was no thrash-talk. Instead, there was a lot of show of respect for each other and that made it such a nice clean event.
The event moves on to Las Vegas in two days, then on to New York and possibly Washington, DC.
The MGM people who were there announced that the early odds shows Pacquiao at -700 indicating that the book makers at Las Vegas are favoring the Filipino boxing idol to keep his WBO crown.

PACQUIAO DROPS WBC SUPER WELTER CROWN
SOURCE: INQUIRER
Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao will relinquish his super welterweight crown as a prelude to his clash against Shane Mosley in May and as a formal sign that the ring icon will no longer risk fighting above the welterweight ranks.

Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao will relinquish his super welterweight crown as a prelude to his clash against Shane Mosley in May and as a formal sign that the ring icon will no longer risk fighting above the welterweight ranks.
Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz said that the pound-for-pound king reached the decision in response to a query from WBC president Jose Sulaiman asking the Filipino whether he intended to defend his 154 pound belt or not.
Sulaiman posed the question after Top Rank announced that Pacquiao’s next fight would be against Mosley and it would be for the WBO welterweight title the Pacman won against Cotto in 2009.
Pacquiao and Mosley square off at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 7.
Pacquiao pulverized Antonio Margarito to win the 154 pound title by a lopsided twelve round decision at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas last Nov. 13, but Koncz said the Filipino’s team learned a valuable lesson from the bout.
Margarito entered the ring with a 17-pound advantage and and managed to inflict damage on Pacquiao.
“We learned from experience in the Margarito fight that giving away 10 to 15 pounds during fight night is very detrimental to the safety of Manny,” Koncz told the Inquirer. “Because of those basic concerns we have no intention for Manny to fight at 154. From this day forward the maximum weight would be 147 lb (welterweight).”
Koncz said he would send a “thank [you] letter” stating how much they “appreciate what the WBC has done and that Manny wants to free the belt so that others have the opportunity to proudly wear the WBC belt.”
On the issue of outstanding sanction fees broken down as $30,000 for the rematch against Juan Manuel Marquez on March 15, 2008 and the $50,000 due on the fight against Oscar De La Hoya on Dec. 6, 2008, Koncz said “I am going to send an e-mail to Top Rank instructing them to pay $50,000 for the De La Hoya fight because that was [the] agreement.”
“We should honor it.”
For the Marquez rematch sanction fee, Koncz claimed “Top Rank would deduct whatever the sanction fee was from Manny’s purse and pay it directly without any consultation, without any guidance. So if there is or isn’t a percent due that’s a problem between Top Rank and the WBC.”

Pacquiao-Mosley: Boxing’s Remaining Fans Get Shaken Down: News Roundup
SOURCE: Mike Colapietro
I know a couple who are big fans of hockey and more specifically a regional hockey team. They are the definition of loyalty: season ticket holders for ten years running, always decked out in fan attire, their seats never empty come game time. While this particular couples’ seats were never empty, the problem within the organization last season was that most other seats were.
